Resizing Images

Images of any size can be uploaded. WebFilm will automatically resize images to fit the visitors screen. To reduce upload times and storage space, images uploaded to WebFilm should not be larger than necessary which depends on the intended application. For guidelines on optimal sizes and a free resizing program, see the Tech Tip Pixel Diet

On a 19" monitor 1.3Mpixels will fill the screen. To make 4x6 prints at 200 dpi requires 1Mpixel. In the common jpeg format, which compresses the image, these result in files about 300-500K in size. Anything larger will produce no improvement in the image and simply takes longer to upload. Even if the original photo is taken at a high resolution setting, it may be worthwhile to downsize a copy of all images files first before uploading. WebFilm saves image files at a maximum of 1800x1800 pixels. To download very large originals, if resizing is not desired, images must be saved as type-Files See Help-Uploading for more details.

To speed upload times, resize images first. The Tech Tip- Pixel Diet gives guidelines for optimal image sizes and a free resizing program.
